Canon-McMillan's National Honor Society Inducts Members

The chapter of the National Honor Society recently inducted 10 senior candidates and 85 junior candidates.

David Helinski, high school principal, and Joyce Mason, high school media specialist and NHS sponsor, presided over the ceremony held in the high school auditorium. 

Joyce Ellis, executive director of the Lemoyne Community Center, challenged the students to volunteer in community organizations. In her keynote speech, Ellis reflected on her life experiences and related how she believes that the Lemoyne Community Center has always been her life’s destiny.  

Bella Voce under the direction of Maggie Sisson performed "Fields of Gold." Jeralyn Tatano, Michael Burchesky and Joseph Helinksi performed piano solos for the audience. 

To be a member of the CMHS National Honor Society students must meet academic, disciplinary, and community service requirements. The society emphasizes scholarship, leadership, service and character.
