Canonsburg: All the News You Missed

Here's what happened at Monday's Council meeting.

Here's the lowdown on what happened at Monday's Canonsburg Council meeting:

  • According to borough Manager Terry Hazlett, a motion by Councilwoman Fran Coleman to approve a Council of Governments agreement with Char-West to provide a vactor and operator to assist in cleaning and maintenance of storm and sewer sewers died for lack of a second. Last week, borough sewer plant engineer Dick Zollinger told council the agreement had the potential to save the borough thousands of dollars. In June, council tabled voting on the item, saying it did not have enough information.
  • Hazlett said council also voted on a site plan for a proposed Washington Community Federal Credit Union. Councilwoman Pat Romano and Councilman Joe Graff questioned the access to the drive-through lane and cast the dissenting votes. Councilwoman Fran Coleman, and fellow Councilmen George Coleman, Joe Milioto and Paul Sharkady voted yes. Councilmen John Bevec, Rich Russo and A.J. Williams were absent.
  • Another project—a new parking lot and office building addition at Aquatech—was unanimously approved, according to Hazlett.
