Canonsburg Councilman 'Mont' Miller Resigns
Borough council accepts his resignation due to illness and appoints Peter Lucas to fill his seat.

In a tearful speech, Mayor David H. Rhome read a letter written by the children of Councilman Robert "Mont" Miller asking Canonsburg Council to accept his resignation.
Council unanimously voted 8-0 to approve the request on behalf of Miller.
Members of council lauded Miller's service to the community, with President John Bevec adding, "I wish him the best in these tough times he is going though."

Immediately afterward Councilwoman Patty Romano made a motion to appoint Peter Lucas to fill the remainder of Miller's term.
The appointment was approved by a 7-1 vote with Councilman Tim Bilsky casting the sole no vote. There was no discussion prior to the vote.

Reached after the meeting, Bilsky said he voted no because of that lack of discussion.
"There should be discussion," he said. "It's an important (vote)."
Council in January appointed Miller to replace former Councilman A.J. Williams.
