Canonsburg Man Jailed for Attempted Burglary

Police also found a heroin kit on Jason Stenger when they apprehended him Friday night.

A Canonsburg man is in jail for attempted burglary after police said he tried to break into a residence on Thornwood Drive Friday night.

charged Jason Stenger, 33, of 602 Park Ave., with a felony count of attempted burglary, as well as misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and theft by unlawful taking.

A criminal complaint indicates that police responded to 343 Thornwood Drive around 10 p.m. Friday after someone called to report a male attempting to break into the residence.

Police encountered Stenger—who fit the description of the man attempting to break in through the residence's rear door—in the area of West College Street.

When officers searched Stenger they found a heroin kit containing six used syringes, two burnt razor blades, one burnt metal cooker and and a used piece of cotton, all of which were in a pants pocket.

Police said two witnesses reported that Stenger tried to break into the residence, and "fled the area on foot when he became aware he was seen attempting entry."

Stenger was arraigned Friday night before district , and was taken to Washington County Jail on $20,000 straight bond. He was still listed as an inmate there as of Monday morning.
