Canonsburg Moves Forward with Borough Building Renovations

Council voted to take out a $500,000 loan to help pay for the revamp.

Council this week unanimously approved a $500,000 loan

The 10-year loan will help match a Council expects to repay the loan through funds received from local share monies.

The annual debt payment on the loan will $59,000. The borough receives more than $110,000 in its share of local casino revenue.

Borough Manager Terry Hazlett said the project will focus on renovation of the police department and installation of several bathrooms that meet requirements set by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

At its Monday meeting council also unanimously voted to hired Hayes Design Group of Bridgeville to bid and oversee the project, which is expected to commence in August.

Hazlett said the work would take about nine months to complete.
