Canonsburg Police Charge Pittsburgh Attorney With Stalking

Police said they found binoculars in his vehicle when they pulled him over.

charged a Pittsburgh attorney with stalking his ex-girlfriend after a borough woman called officers regarding a suspicious vehicle outside her home Wednesday night.

Police charged Andrew Thurman, 57, of 910 N. Negley Ave. in Pittsburgh, with violating a protection from abuse order that had been filed by his ex-girlfriend, Robin Stegena, of Canonsburg.

He was also charged in a separate criminal complaint with stalking and harassment.

Police said Thurman was arraigned Tuesday before district Judge Gary Havelka and released on $5,000 unsecured bond.

Court dockets show Thurman is scheduled to appear before district at 10 a.m. Nov. 4.

The charges were filed after police spotted Thurman's vehicle, which matched the one described by the woman on South Central Avenue.

When they conducted the traffic stop, police recognized Thurman from the earlier PFA complaint, and also observed binoculars in plain view, police said.

Thurman told police that he was outside the residence to see Stegena.
