Canonsburg: What's Happening Downtown?
Main Street Manager Nadeen Steffey said there is plenty happening—from ribbon-cutting ceremonies to a new grant program.

With spring’s arrival (sort of) Downtown Canonsburg’s calendar is jam packed with activities in the coming weeks.
Our second small business workshop is set for April 13 and is titled Three Social Media Sites Every Business Should Use and WHY. Facilitator Cindy Neky is founder and chief executive officer of marketing for Pathways in McMurray. We are really looking forward to her presentation! If you’d like to join us, a few spots are still available.
A ribbon cutting and grand opening for our newest downtown business, America On A Roll, will be held on Friday. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m., and the grand-opening celebration will run all day. No doubt Willie and his staff will have something extra special on the menu! Stop in and welcome them to the neighborhood—117 N. Jefferson Ave. is where you’ll find America On A Roll.

Redd-Up Canonsburg's downtown cleanup is going on this Saturday. We sure could use a few helping hands for the litter pick up, weed pulling, window washing and whatever other tasks we can fit into the event (which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Scout troops, youth groups and school groups all are encouraged to help us redd- up Canonsburg—I like to think of it a spring cleaning, only outdoors!
Our friends at Bahr Hardware are movin on up—up the street that is! It closed the store at 6 N. Central Sunday and will be opening up its new location (136 N. Central) on Friday. I’m excited about its plans for the new space, including a lawn-and-garden center! Joyce and Paul always have the nicest plants and hanging baskets. There is already interest by another business owner in the former location, and we’ll announce who they are very soon!

Did you know there is a Downtown Canonsburg fan page on Facebook? We update that page regularly with news and event listings. “Like” us by clicking here and then clicking the "like" button . And we humbly ask that you share our page with your own Facebook friends to help spread the word. Pretty please?
We also received word from the state Department of Community and Economic Development that our organization has been awarded a grant in the amount of $22,000 to be used for façade renovation projects in the downtown district.
Property owners interested in this matching-grant program are encouraged to visit our website here for guidelines and application information.
Wow, guess I’ll be writing again soon to let you know about our 1.6k Break In Your Day event, which will kick off the WalkWorks project in downtown.
That’s a teaser—more later!
See you downtown!
