Young Boy Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Pittsburgh

A young boy's mid-block run into a Pittsburgh street proved deadly. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A 4-year-old child died Monday night after being struck by a vehicle in the city's Upper Hill neighborhood.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, police responded to the 700 block of Anaheim Street at around 7:30 p.m.

Preliminary information indicates that the boy ran into the street, mid-block, and was struck by the vehicle. Pittsburgh EMS took him to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later was pronounced dead.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the boy as Yiason Irvin-Weathers.

When the incident occurred, the driver remained on the scene and was cooperative with investigators. There were no signs that the driver was under alcohol influence at the time.

The city Collision Investigation Unit responded to the scene and is conducting an investigation.

The City's Vision Zero Fatal Crash Response Team, which includes the Collision Investigation Unit, will complete a site visit to evaluate potential crash factors.
