Cecil Calls Special Meeting to Consider Marcellus Shale Legal Challenge

Board of Supervisors will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday to consider whether or not to join other municipalities in a legal challenge to Act 13—the state's new Marcellus Shale drilling law.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the main conference room.

Mt. Pleasant supervisors on Saturday voted 2-1 to join in a legal challenge, according to the Observer-Reporter newspaper.

Several other municipalities are also mulling a possible legal challenge to Act 13, as well.

Cecil Solicitor John Smith has said he believes that parts of the legislation violate the state constitution and warrant a legal challenge.
