Cecil Police Investigate Thefts

Two people reported thefts from their vehicles this week, with another man reporting copper was stolen from his home.

police are again reminding residents to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of plain view following two incidents this week.

Police said Lisa Christmas, of 212 Maple Ridge, reported that she woke up Wednesday to find that someone had partially smashed in one of her car’s windows while it was parked in her driveway.

She told officers that her purse, which contained a small amount of cash, had been stolen.

David Lee, of 274 Maple Ridge, told officers Wednesday that someone had stolen an iPod and about $20 in coins from his vehicle. It was unclear if Lee’s vehicle was locked when the items were stolen.

Police are also investigating the theft of copper from the 393 Swihart home of David Lemley. He told police Thursday afternoon that someone had stolen scrap copper from an outdoor bin near his garage.
