Cecil Supervisors Shoot Down Maple Ridge Request
The denial came after residents presented a petition with more than 90 names.

Dozens of residents packed into the monthly board of supervisors meeting Monday night to object to a proposal to change the road plans in the Maple Ridge development.
The item was being discussed after being tabled last month.
According to Jason Drill, a Maple Ridge Drive resident, homeowners bought their properties based on the road being a closed loop. However, now that close to 75 percent of the properties have been sold, the developer is proposing the road connect to the Coal Valley property that neighbors it.

According to Drill, the developer, Lynn Foltz, has been misleading in his statements to both residents and the board.
“From the very first approved plan through now it has been a loop and that was a highly desirable characteristic,” said Drill. “Already every other day somebody's mailbox gets hit by passing traffic and we have issues already minimally handling the traffic that we have. We would argue that it would become a connector street to the Coal Valley development.”

In addition to the residents in attendance, Drill also presented the board with a petition containing 91 signatures voicing objections to the road.
The board voted unanimously to reject the proposed change to the plan and keep the road a closed loop.
In other news, the board voted unanimously to borrow $500,000 to be used for road repairs for this year. They also set two dates for budget workshops to begin preparing the 2012 budget.
The first date is 7 p.m. this Thursday and the other is 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.
The board approved the final phase of the Timber Run plan of homes. Phase four includes 35 lots of 138 total in the development. This phase was based on the condition that a snow storage area be designated on the cul de sac and that a speed hump be placed where deemed needed by the township engineer.
Finally, the board set the Cecil trick or treating from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
