Charges Reduced For Teen in Firearms Case

Charges were reduced for a Canonsburg teenager charged with firearms violations.

Charges were reduced on Wednesday for a North Strabane teenager accused of firearms

District Judge David Mark reduced the charges against Paige Davis, 18, of 120 Cherry St. She was originally charged with with aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer's number, simple assault and reckless endangerment.

But on Wednesday, the firearms-related charges were withdrawn, and the aggravated assault charges were changed to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Davis waived charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment to court.

Her bail was also reduced, and posted. She was no longer listed as an imate Thursday morning.

The charges stemmed from an incident at 601 Marple St. home, when a Canonsburg man told officers he awoke to gunshots being fired in his home and that he had seen a red Dodge Durango driving away—with Davis driving.

That's when officers from Canonsburg and North Strabane went to the 18-year-old woman's 120 Cherry St. home, where she quickly led police to a second suspect and an altered gun.

Davis told police she drove Shaquore Yarbrough, 18, of 407 Giffin Ave., to Johnson's residence.

Then she led police to the back of Giffin, where the pair had hidden the gun allegedly used in the shooting. The 22-caliber rifle was placed in a group of bushes next to a fence at the side of the alley there, according to a police report.

And police said it was apparent that the firearm had been modified.

Canonsburg and North Strabane police then secured the perimeter of Yarbrough's residence and gained entry, where officers took three males into custody.

Yarbrough was charged with aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, firearms not to be carried without a license, simple assault and reckless endangerment.

At a preliminary hearing before Mark last month, two counts of aggravated assault were dismissed. Yarbrough waived the other charges to court.
