Dems Stave Off Republican Challengers for Clerk of Courts, Coroner and Prothonotary

Barbara Gibbs, Phyllis Ranko-Matheny and Tim Warco won Tuesday night.

Three incumbent Democrat row officers have retained their positions, according to unofficial results from the Washington County Election Office.

In the race for Washington County Clerk of Courts, longtime incumbent Barbara Gibbs won over her Republican challenger with 56.2 percent of the vote. Marcus Mercante Staley received 43.8 percent.

Although Republican Matt Staniszewski came close to ousting his opponent, incument Phyllis Ranko-Matheny won with 51.6 percent of the vote. Staniszewski ended the night with 48.3 percent.

In the race for coroner, longtime incumbent Tim Warco, a Democrat, beat out his opponent with a solid 65 percent of the vote. Robert F. Balogh, a Republican, won 34.9 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results.
