Club Officers to Murdock Residents: We're Fixing the Problem

Concerned residents of Murdock Street appeared before Canonsburg Council for the second week in a row, where officers of the club they've lamented showed up to say sorry.

For the second straight Monday, before council to complain about violence other bad behavior at a private club in their neighborhood.

Borough Manager Terry Hazlett on Tuesday said about a half-dozen Murdock Street residents approached council to complain about patrons of the Canon Lodge.

Once again, he said, the complaints centered around late-night and early-morning gunfire, littering and the use of profanity—with one resident telling council he found live ammunition in his yard.

Hazlett said club officers also attended the meeting, and blamed problems there on former patrons of City of Washington clubs who've begun coming to the Canonsburg location when clubs closed there.

Those officers said they were immediately "beefing up controls" with cameras and the addition of two state constables at the club, the borough manager said.

One of the officers then said: "We are truly sorry and are truly working on solving (the problem)."
