Canonsburg takes its July 4 parade seriously. So seriously, people start setting out their chairs days and days before the event.

Sure, the Fourth of July is a little ways off yet, but that doesn't mean much to regulars to Canonsburg's immensely popular parade.

As longtime borough residents know: If you want a quality spot along the parade route on Pike Street, you need to stake that bad boy out early.

And they do.

The kind folks at (who are holding a related to this very tradition) tell us the first chairs cropped up on Downtown sidewalks this weekend.
