Coroner's Inquest Scheduled for North Strabane Man Shot After Police Chase

A coroner's inquest has been scheduled for a North Strabane man who was shot and killed by police in July 2010 after leading officers from several communities on a chase that ended in South Strabane.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said in a release that an inquest into the death of Kelly Smith will be held at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 14 in the juvenile courtroom at the Family Court Center in the City of Washington.

After crashing his car near the Kopper Kettle in South Strabane, Kelly reportedly fled from police on foot, shooting at officers who shot back, killing him, according to WPXI-TV.
