Do You Qualify For a Home Rehab Loan?

officials have received word that the borough's waiting list for the Redevelopment Authority’s Home Rehabilitation Program is relatively short. So if you need home repairs, and you qualify, now's the time to apply.
Consistent with the objectives of the Federal Community Development Block Grant Program and HOME Investment Partnership Program, the county commissioners have established a program of housing rehabilitation loans designed to assist low and middle income homeowners in making needed repairs and improvements to their properties.

The home rehabilitation loan may be used to correct present, or soon-to-be present, housing problems, and for energy conservation improvements.
In general, most repairs are eligible except for unnecessary luxuries or strictly cosmetic repairs. All properties funded will, at a minimum, must meet International Building Code Standards upon completion.

The loan may not be used to refinance existing debt.
Basic Eligibility Requirements:
Low and moderate income homeowners who own and occupy a residence in Washington County are eligible to receive assistance under this program when funding is available and the following criteria are met:
Income eligibility – annual income must not exceed 80 percent of the Median Family income as determined by HUD and adjusted based on household size. Note: Income limits may change periodically.
- Family of one - $36,350
- Family of two - $41,550
- Family of three - $46,750
- Family of four - $51,900
- Family of five - $56,100
- Family of six - $60,250
To qualify, homeowners must also be current on property taxed, have no liens on their property, and have a home value that does not exceed the 203(b) Property ValueLimits (i.e $248,900).
The home must also not be in foreclosure or bankruptcy.
Once your pre-application is received, you will be placed on a waiting list until funds become available.
