Five Things You Need To Know This Week
Canon-McMillan school directors meet, Canonsburg celebrates Perry Como's birthday and Canon-McMillan holds its prom.

1. The Canon-McMillan school board will hold its regular voting meeting at 7 p.m. tonight in the district administration building. For a full list of meeting dates, click here.
2. The Canonsburg Borough and Main Street program invite the community to stop by to help celebrate Perry Como’s 99th birthday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The party will celebrate the musical icon and allow people to share stories and memories about him. The party will be held near the Perry Como statue at the borough building. 3. Sen. Tim Solobay will host a Democratic Policy Committee hearing regarding Marcellus Shale issues at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the North Strabane Township municipal building.

The policy committee, chaired by Sen. Lisa Boscola, of Lehigh County, will take testimony from experts and stakeholders on various issues to help develop solutions through new legislation.
Solobay said the committee will hear local testimony about the impact of Marcellus Shale energy exploration on the local economy and environment.

4. Canon-McMillan High School will hold its prom at 8 p.m. Friday at the Omni William Penn Hotel.
5. Sunday Pasta Plus, a benefit for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, will be held at Bella Serra (located on Morganza Road), from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. The $20 ticket includes music, three types of pasta, salads, bread, soft drinks and dessert. For tickets, call (412) 295-9453.
