Help Wanted: Cecil Police Seek Info on Plant Theft

More than $2,000 worth of flowering plants were stolen from a township greenhouse.

Cecil police are seeking information about the theft of more than $2,000 worth of plants from a greenhouse sometime this week.

Paul Ciaffoni told police Wednesday that someone had entered his unlocked greenhouse at 5 Cumer Road and stolen 76 plants, according to police Lt. Shawn F. Bukovinsky.

Ciaffoni said someone stole 46 pink-and-white mandevillas planted in six-inch pots and valued at about $20 apiece. Another 30 of the mandevillas planted in 10-inch pots and valued at about $40 were also stolen.

Police said Ciaffoni believed the plants were stolen sometime after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Bukovinsky encouraged anyone with information to call the Cecil Township Police Department at 724-743-0940. Residents may also submit a tip to the police department on its website, which can be accessed here.
