Man Accused of Raping Cal U Student Held For Trial

A Maryland man accused of raping a California University of Pennsylvania student was held for trial during a hearing in Central Court in Washington Wednesday morning.
District Judge Gary Havelka held Harold Stanback Jr. with rape and other charges.
Southwest Regional Police had charged Stanback with rape following an alleged incident Dec. 4 at an off-campus home at California University of Pennsylvania.

Police also charged Stanback Jr., 26, a student of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and resident of Capital Heights, MD, with sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and disorderly conduct following the alleged incident.
The alleged incident involved an 18-year-old female student from California University of Pennsylvania. The incident occurred at a party in the borough of Coal Center, immediately adjacent to the university, police said.

Police said Stanback admitted "that an encounter occurred with the victim" when he was arrested.
Stanback remains in the Washington County Jail on $50,000 straight bond.
