Man Jailed for DUI

North Strabane police charged Aubrey McDaniels for driving under the influence and other offenses after other motorists called 911 to complain about an erratic driver.

According to court dockets, police also charged Aubrey O'Dell McDaniels, 48, of 12 N. Johnson Road, with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and careless driving.

Officers received multiple calls from concerned motorists stating that a man was driving a black Cadillac aggressively, running stop signs and then wrecked his vehicle in the area of Johnson Road, according to the criminal complaint.

When officers arrived on the scene of the wreck, Canonsburg EMS workers were with McDaniels, who police said was "agitated and had visible signs of being intoxicated."

"Mr. McDaniels was asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests. During this testing, (he) was acting aggressively toward officers and had to be told numerous times to settle down," according to the complaint.

Although an officer was able to perform a test on McDaniels' eyes—which officers said "gave all the indicators" of being under the influence—he was unable to resume because the man became aggressive and began using obscene language.

McDaniels was arraigned before district Sunday and remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $5,000 bond.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sept. 14 before district .
