McDonald Man to Stand Trial for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor

Donora police charged Benjamin Taylor of McDonald with aggravated indecent assault of a minor and other offenses last month.

A McDonald man charged with sexually assaulting a young girl will stand trial for aggravated indecent sexual assault on a person younger than 13 and a slew of other offenses.

Benjamin Taylor, 19, waived that felony charge to court—as he did misdemeanor counts of statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault of a person younger than 13—during a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Washington County Central Court.

Taylor has remained in the Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond since Donora police charged him with the crimes on Sept. 27, court dockets show.

According to records, the the charges stemmed from a Sept. 20 incident.

A criminal complaint indicates police were tipped off to the incident after a school nurse reported that she believed the 5-year-old had been sexually assaulted, according to the Observer-Reporter newspaper in Washington. The newspaper also indicated that the assault occurred while Taylor was spending the weekend with the mother of the girl.
