More Than $355K Grant Announced for CHJA

State Rep. Brandon Neuman and State Sen. Tim Solobay announce $2.4 million worth of H20 grants in Washington County—with the Canonsburg Houston Joint Authority being one of the recipients.

More than $2.38 million in state H20 grant money was awarded to Washington County projects—including one being completed by the Canonsburg Houston Joint Authority.

The project, one of five in the county to receive funding, involves installing 4,000 linear feet of 18-inch sewer line to parallel an existing interceptor, according to Sen. Tim Solobay, D-Canonsburg.

"The H20 program is one of the best options for counties to improve their sewer facilities and quality of their drinking water," he said. "The funding that will be used to complete ad move along these Washington County projects represents money well spent."

State Rep. Brandon Neuman said that updating the region's infrastructure is an important, but expensive, initiative—and agreed that H20 funding is paramount to the completion of some necessary upgrades.

"These grants really help out our local communities," Neuman, D-North Strabane, said. "It's very important to our area for these infrastructure updates to be made so that residents have access to safe, clean water."
