Municipal Park Unveiling to be Delayed

While officials had hoped the multi-million dollar park project would be completed by May, it may be June or July before residents get a glimpse of the new fields and facilities.

It’s been a long time coming—but North Strabanians may need to wait just a little longer for the unveiling of Municipal Park.

Manager Frank Siffrinn said that although officials had hoped the grand opening of the almost $9 million park would happen in May, it will likely be pushed back by about a month.

“It might even be into July,” Siffrinn said.

Siffrinn said Muncipal Park is between 95 and 98 percent completed—with only “minor punch list” items remaining, including some seeding, paving and other work.

And Parks and Recreation Director Greg Sulc added that the fields and facilities will be well worth the wait.

“The old park was a diamond in the rough,” he said. “This is the wow factor.”
