News Nearby: Body Found in Mon; Death Under Investigation

The body of a Mon City woman was recovered from the Monongahela River Monday night.

Shirley J. Betters, 67, of Snyder Ave. was discovered by members of a search and rescue crew near the shore off Sixth Street around 10 p.m., Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said in a release.

Family members had called police at around 5:30 p.m. after Betters failed to report to work.

Betters’ cause of death is pending an autopsy. The manner of her death is under investigation.
