News Nearby: One Dead in Early Morning Crash
Sidney Dewayne Cumpston died in a crash in Burgettstown early Friday.
A Slovan man was killed early Friday morning after Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said he lost control of the pickup truck he was driving on Main Street in Burgettstown.
Warco said Sidney Dewaye Cumpston, 50, of Slovan, died as a result of trauma suffered in the crash. The manner of death was ruled accidental.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m. Friday, when Cumpston was driving northbound on Main Street when "he came upon a line of stopped traffic and lost control of his vehicle, crossing into the southbound lane and striking a vehicle head-on," according to a release from Warco.

Cumpston was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police in Washington are investingating the crash.
