No Injuries Reported in Cecil House Fire

Cecil Volunteer Fire Chief Dennis Berty said the fire was caused by a wood burner in the basement.

It took first responders about an hour and a half to bring a house fire at 43 Creedmore Road in Cecil under control Thursday morning.

Chief Dennis Berty said the fire originated with a wood burner in the basement around 7:20 a.m., spread to the walls and then into the attic.

While an elderly couple was home at the time, they escaped without injury, he said.

Berty said a state fire Marshal was on scene and agreed that the fire was accidental in nature.

About $60,000 worth of damage was estimated.

In addition to Cecil Township Volunteer Fire Department, the , McDonald, and Cuddy volunteer fire departments also responded, as did SouthBridge EMS.
