North Strabane Man Charged With Stealing From Government

The government alleges he stole $30,000 in Social Security benefit payments.

A North Strabane man has been charged by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh with theft of government property.

U. S. Attorney David J. Hickton announced the two-count indictment against Randy A. Swink, 50, of 1425 Racetrack Road.

According to the indictment, between December 2005 and February 2009 Swink embezzled and misappropriated about $30,000 in Social Security Child Auxiliary Benefit payments, which were issued by the Social Security Administration for two minors during that time period.

The law provides for a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $500,000,or both.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shaun E. Sweeney is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The Office of the Inspector General and the United States Social Security Administration, conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
