North Strabane Notebook: Reorganization Set, Supervisor Honored

Here's what you missed from North Strabane Township Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.

The supervisors took the following action during their legislative meeting Tuesday:

  • The board unanimously approved the township's $10.3 million spending plan for 2012. For more details, read our meeting story.
  • Supervisors unanimously approved a master plan for Weavertown Woodlands that eliminates an apartment building and establishes 23 townhouse units on Sassafras Lane.
  • The board unanimously approved a park and field usage policy and pavilion rental schedule proposed by Parks and Recreation Director Greg Sulc.
  • Supervisors approved a resolution that waives employee contributions to the police pension plan for 2012.
  • The board approved a resolution that officials accepts a portion of Majestic Drive (from Forest Lane Drive to Bentwood Drive) and Bentoowd Drive (from Majestic Drive to its terminus) as public streets.
  • Supervisors unanimously approved an alteration to its zoning map that changes approximately 32.6 acres of property along state Route 19 near Racetrack Road to a highway commercial district. It was previously zoned as a residential and regional commercial district.
  • The board approved the township's 2012 sewer operating and capital projects budgets. Township Manager Frank Siffrinn said customers would see no rate increase next year.
  • Siffrinn announced that the board of supervisors will hold its reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 3 in the township building. Three supervisors—two elected and one appointed—will be sworn in by district Judge Jay Weller. The meeting is open to the public.
  • Chairman Steve Motzer presented a plaque to outgoing Supervisor Rob Balogh, who served on the board from 2006-2011. Motzer and the rest of the board thanked Balogh, who lost his bid for re-election, for his service to the community.
