North Strabane Police Capture Man Wanted For Drug Conviction

Darren Brown was placed in the Washington County Jail on $25,000 straight bond Thursday night.

on Thursday arrested a Washington man for an oustanding bench warrant out of Jefferson County, Ohio, where authorities said he failed to report to a detention center.

The Washington County Jail website shows that police arrested Darren Brown, 43, who has a Washington address. The Observer-Reporter newspaper reported that an affidavit indicated the apprehension was related to the Ohio bench warrant.

Brown was arraigned Thursday before district Judge James Ellis and remanded to the Washington County Jail without bond. He was still listed as an inmate there as of Saturday morning.

Online court records in Ohio show that police there charged Brown with possession of drugs in November of 2004. He was convicted April 1, 2005 and failed to report to a detention center five days later, records indicate.

Those records also show that a bench warrant had been issued for Brown on Jan. 1, 2006 for failing to appear.
