North Strabane Roundup: Zoning Request Founders; Police Officer Hired
Here's what happened at Tuesday's board meeting.

North Strabane supervisors on Tuesday voted unanimously against advertising for the rezoning of 13.7 acres along Weavertown Road.
At a meeting last week Joe DeNardo of JND Properties presented the board with his plans for the acreage if he was able to rezone it from R-3, residential, to C-1, commercial.
The first step toward construction of multi-family townhomes—90 dwellings altogether—was rezoning this area, because the township ordinance requires a minimum of 30 acres to build multi-family units in residential zones.

However, according to Supervisor Rob Balough, the 0-5 vote was board's way of saying it isn't willing to create side regulations to allow for this type of zoning to work around current exclusions.
Also on the agenda Tuesday was the change order for the North Strabane Municipal Park currently undergoing transformation. The board voted to approve the changes, that totaled more than $90,000 and included changes to the baseball dugouts, backstops, press boxes, flag poles and changes to the electrical work already planned.

At last week's meeting the board was presented with the list of changes to the already $8 million project by Carolyn Yagel, a consultant with Environmental Planning and Design.
The board also voted in favor of hiring a new part-time police officer in the township.
