Pittsburgh Man Held on All Charges Related to Police Chase

on Wednesday held a Pittsburgh man on charges related to a police chase last month.
had charged Eric W. Boyer, 23, of Pittsburgh with a felony count of fleeing an eluding policeāand court dockets show he had a blood-alcohol/drug content of at least .20.
Online court records show Boyer was also charged with two counts of driving under the influence, a count of driving with a BAC of .20 percent or more, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and other offenses.

Boyer was charged after fleeing from Canonsburg police at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 19 when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. A criminal complaint states that he was driving east on Adams Avenue with the trunk of the vehicle he was driving fully open. Boyer then failed to stop before turning right onto Morganza Road.
The complaint indicated that Boyer fled, winding from Morganza to McClelland to McDowell Lane before speeding through several residential neighborhoods in North Strabaneāleading officers from the township, Canonsburg and Peters on a chase.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle Boyer was driving crashed on Southpointe Boulevard when it "struck a manhole cover in the road and spun out."
That's when police said Boyer fled on foot, running toward Fairmont Supply and refusing to stop despite an officer's repeateded commands.
Boyer was then tasered and taken into custody.
According to the criminal complaint, police discovered a glass pipe believed to be used for smoking crack. Officers also noted that Boyer smelled like alcohol, and that he was driving on a suspended license.
"He admitted to fleeing police dude to having a suspected license and consuming a six-pack of beer," the complaint reads.
Boyer was arraigned before district Judge Ethan Ward and remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $35,000 bond. That amount was reduced Wednesday, also.
