Republican Challenger Upsets Council President in Canonsburg
Newcomer Tim Bilsky received 54 percent of the vote Tuesday, according to unofficial election results.

Newcomer Tim Bilsky upset Council President Joe Milioto for a seat representing the borough's Third Ward.
Bilsky, a Republican, received 54 percent of the vote according to unofficial election results. Milioto received 46 percent.
"I feel very good and very humbled to be given the opportunity," Bilsky said Tuesday night. "I credit the victory to the people of Canonsburg."

Despite his resignation from Canonsburg Council, A.J. Williams, a Democrat, won a four-year term representing the borough's First Ward with more than 97 percent of the vote.
But Williams has said he will decline the position, which means that Canonsburg Council will need to appoint someone for a two-year term.

In the Second Ward, there were two, four-year seats up for grabs—and two nominees. Incumbent Fran Coleman, a Democrat, received 51.7 percent of the votes, while newcomer Joseph McGarry, also a Democrat, received 47.9 percent of the vote.
