Roundup: Canonsburg to Set Trick or Treat Date

Council will meet next Monday.

met for its agenda meeting Monday, and will hold its voting meeting next week.

At that meeting, council is expected to set Oct. 31 as the date for the borough's trick or treat night. The hours are expected to be 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.—as it has been in the past.

Also discussed were several ordinances, two of which will be voted on next week. Those ordinances will allow the earned income and net profits tax to be collected at the county level as mandated, and also turn collection of the local services tax to Keystone Collection.

Council is also expected to approve the advertisement of an ordinance establishing stop signs at various locations, and accepting the International Property Maintenance Code.

Kerry Fox, of the Washington Redevelopment Authority, also told council that contracts for  the repair and renovation of numerous borough streets were awarded.

Ellis Asphalt Paving was the low bid—at $203,85—for reconstruction of the 600 and 700 blocks of Franklin Avenue. Work is expected to begin as early as next week.

El Grande was the low bid—at $114,232—for street and sewer improvements at Park Drive (from West Pitt Street to North Avenue), Church Way Extension and the 400 and 600 block of Duquesne Avenue. Work is expected to begin this fall.

Note: Canonsburg Council will hold its voting meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the borough building.
