Take aim at zombies in Pittsburgh newest Halloween attraction

If you’ve ever dreamed of reenacting a scene from “The Walking Dead” – Pittsburgh Zombie Outbreak is for you! This brand-new attraction gives avid zombie fans a chance to prepare for a future zombie-apocalypse by through the use of paintball and zombies for target practice.

Rather than a walk through attraction, Pittsburgh Zombie Outbreak loads shooters in the back of an army-style truck with 12 paintball markers. The truck takes you up over a mountain-style hill where zombies lurk in the darkness. The entire ride takes around 18 minutes to complete with several different zombie posts to shoot at sporadically throughout the ride. 

Overall, for the first year I think this attraction has a lot of potential to grow and get bigger and better. If you’re thinking of bringing young kids – do! It’s not scary at all. The zombies are pretty far from the truck and you drive by a fast so you barely see their make up at all. There’s no age restriction as long as the child can ride safely and shoot the paintball gun. 

We went on the first weekend open, so naturally I expected a few glitches here and there. The trip could certainly use a few more zombies and the drivers needed to slow down just a bit. With twelve people firing at two zombies, it’s pretty easy to kill them in the head quickly (that’s where we were instructed to shoot). Additionally, it might be really useful to give the twelve shooters different colored paints so we could actually know who got the kill shot – for bragging rights of course! 

In terms of cost – the attraction is fairly priced for admission, but extra rounds can add up quick. It’s $20 for the ride and 50 rounds and $5 for each additional 50 rounds of paint. I’d recommend about an extra 200 rounds for maximum shooting – especially if more zombies are added throughout the season.  

Of course if you’d much rather be pelted with paintballs as a zombie, as of print the Pittsburgh Zombie Facebook page listed they were still looking for zombie actors.
