Teen Briefly Jailed for Gun, Drug Possession

Canonsburg police charged Jesse Klaus with the offenses following a traffic stop on Boone Avenue

A North Strabane teen was jailed briefly after being arraigned Tuesday on gun and drug possession charges.

had charged Jesse Eughene Klaus, 18, of 174 Alexander Ave., with firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic offenses.

Those charges were filed Dec. 22, court documents show.

Klaus was arraigned Tuesday afternoon before district and was briefly remanded to the Washington County Jail before posting bail. Klaus' preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 2 before Mark.

Canonsburg police pulled Klaus over after seeing him traveling in the area of Boone Avenue and state Route 519 at a high rate of speed, according to the criminal complaint.

During the traffic stop, Klaus admitted to police that there was a .22 caliber pistol in the vehicle along with an ounce of suspected marijuana. Police also found a scale, court documents show.
