This Week: Top Five Things Happening in the CM Patch

Meetings, a meet-the-candidate event and a preliminary hearing all made the list.

1. Canonsburg Council will hold its nonvoting meeting at 7 p.m. tonight in the borough building. One of the agenda items slated for discussion is the approval or denial or a three-year agreement with the Canon-McMillan School District for police coverage at a cost of $50 per hour in 2011, $52.50 in 2012 and $55 in 2013. 2. Cecil Township's board of supervisors will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the municipal building.

3. The League of Women Voters of Washington County will host a meet-the-candidates event from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Canon-McMillan High School. Click for more information.

4. The preliminary hearing for a North Strabane man accused of performing sex acts on a teenage girl is set for Wednesday in Central Court in the City of Washington.

, 49, of 260 Meadowview Dr., was charged last week with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful restraint, corruption of minors and furnishing liquor to minors.

According to a criminal complaint, Glen is accused of providing alcohol to a girl who is identified only as having been younger than 16 years old.

5. Friday marks the final day for kindergarten registration in the Canon-McMillan School District. Parents: If your child will be 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2011, you can register online here.
