Motzer asked fellow supervisors during their meeting Tuesday to brainstorm about any ideas they might have for such a policy, and explained that each employee who uses a township vehicle had submitted a report with more detailed information on its use.

But Spicer said there was one piece of information he asked for that was missing from those reports: How many times in the past year each of the employees used the township vehicle for emergency use.

"I noticed that was not answered," he told the board, adding that the township must have some accounting for the number of times public works employees were called out for inclement weather or the police department was called out for after-hours calls.

And Spicer added that information was necessary to determine if the use of those vehicles is "a mere perk we're providing or whether there's an actual need."

Resident Neil Kelly then spoke up during the public comment section of the meeting, telling the supervisors that he doesn't understand why some of the department heads—including the parks and recreation director—would "need a car 24/7."

He then suggested the board look at a motor pool policy where employees sign out township vehicles as they are needed.

Motzer said the board would likely revist the matter in March.
