UPDATED: Water Main Break Leads to Outage in Canonsburg

Mayor David H. Rhome said Pennsylvania American Water officials indicated the outage would last at least through 10 p.m.—and that the company is bringing in a water tanker truck for residents in need.

A water main break on Jefferson Avenue has caused an outage for parts of , Mayor David H. Rhome said.

It happened around 2 p.m. when crews were working to replace the water line from North Jefferson Avenue from Pike to College Street and broke one or two valves, he said.

"This is a temporary inconvenience for a permanent improvement," Rhome said.

  • Central Avenue to East Pitt Street to Pike Street
  • Jefferson Avenue to College Street to Pike Street.

Rhome said Pennsylvania American Water is staying in contact with him, and indicated that service would be out until at least 10 p.m.

In the meantime, he said that the company is parking a water tank truck in the lot adjacent to the borough building at 68 E. Pike St. so that residents in need can bring and fill containers. The water tank truck should be available by 7 p.m., the mayor added.
