Carlisle group opens new shelter to support growing homeless population (wgal.com) — A Carlisle nonprofit, Community Cares, has opened “The Cove,” a new 24/7 shelter with a kitchen, hygiene facilities, and semi-private sleeping areas to better support local homeless residents. Leaders say the dedicated space will offer calm and stability as Carlisle’s homeless population grows, and encourage anyone needing help to contact the group or call 211 for a referral.
   

2. Final night of I-81 ramp closures near Carlisle, crews expect to wrap up overnight paving (local21news.com) — If you’re driving near Carlisle tonight, expect the northbound I-81 ramp to Route 74 at Exit 48 to be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving, with a signed detour in place. This work is part of a long-term I-81 improvement project through Cumberland County that will continue with lane and shoulder closures into 2027.
   

3. Professor Samantha Prince article challenges 401(k) vesting (cumberlink.com) — From her base in Carlisle, Professor Samantha Prince is pushing a national debate on retirement security by arguing that 401(k) vesting schedules should be eliminated. Her new law review article details how current rules cause millions of workers to forfeit employer contributions and urges reforms to better protect Americans’ long-term savings.
   

4. Shoshone Girl Repatriated to Tribe After 126 Years (nativenewsonline.net) — The long-buried remains of a Shoshone-Paiute teenager who died at the Carlisle Indian Industrial Boarding School have finally been returned to her family after 126 years. Her descendants traveled from Nevada for a formal transfer ceremony, part of the Army’s latest repatriation round involving children who died at Carlisle and are now being brought home to their tribal nations.
