📰 News we're reading
• Preserving history (observer-reporter.com) — Carmichaels is getting ready to host the 71st annual King Coal Show from August 22–29, featuring a special exhibit of local coal mining history. Longtime collector and former miner Brice Rush will showcase decades of memorabilia, from early program books to quirky “Coal Patch” toys, all aimed at preserving the area’s mining heritage.

• Love for the game (heraldstandard.com) — Young volleyball players from Carmichaels are part of the growing No Borders Volleyball Club, which serves athletes from Greene and surrounding counties. Coach Stacey Hustosky emphasizes fun, skill-building, and family-style support over wins, offering clinics and teams for kids as young as three and competitive tournament play as they get older.
