Hockey Coach New CV Middle School/High School Teacher

Sean Biancaniello is a new math teacher for the district.

Sean Biancaniello has teaching in his blood and he cannot wait to share it this school year with his students at the Chartiers Valley Middle School and High School.

Along with Sara Benis, Biancaniello is one of the few full-time hires the district hired this summer.

Biancaniello, who has a long history of family members in the field of education, is very fortunate the district brought him on board.

“I was extremely excited to be hired here at Chartiers Valley,” he said.

Biancaniello might be a new teacher, but he is not new to the district. He has been the Chartiers Valley hockey coach the past two seasons.

Even though the school year is only two days in, the new mathematics teacher said he has enjoyed his first few days on the job.

“What I like most about the CV school district is how warm and comforting everyone has been,” said Biancaniello.

Before coming to Chartiers Valley Biancaniello taught middle school math for one year at Duquesne City School District and four years at Linton Middle School in Penn Hills teaching seventh and eighth grade math.

Biancaniello said one of his favorite things about the district is how he feels.

“I honestly feel like I am in a great place where I can succeed in my career and make a difference in the community,” he said.

Biancaniello is a local to the Pittsburgh area and graduated from Gateway Senior High School.

Teaching pretty much just followed suit for Biancaniello, as he had several educators in his family, but there was a certain point when he knew being a teacher was for him.

“I realized teaching was for me when I discovered having a positive impact on a child's life brought me sincere gratitude,” he said.

Biancaniello went to Washington & Jefferson College where he studied psychology and teaching. He then went to Duquesne University for graduate school where he received his Master’s in Education.

The math teacher has a lot of goals as a teacher for this upcoming school year.

“My goal for this school year is to hopefully make an immediate & positive impact on my students both academically as well as in the real world.  If my students can tell me next year that I made a difference in their life, then I know I had a successful year,” said Biancaniello.

When Biancaniello is not teaching math or coaching the hockey team, he enjoys participating and watching sports, especially hockey.

“I played competitive ice hockey all the way through college and still continue to play in adult leagues in the summer time,” he said.
