20 Armed Robberies Tied To 2 Serial Criminals: Philly Police, FBI

PHILADELPHIA – The FBI/Philadelphia Police Department Violent Crime Task Force have tied 20 armed robberies in North Philadelphia and just outside the city to at least two men, one of whom was arrested Wednesday.

Police said the men robbed the stores below at the listed dates while armed with guns:

• Aug. 18 –Family Dollar; 1812 West Cheltenham Ave., Philadelphia
• Aug. 18 –Family Dollar; 6555 Greene St., Philadelphia
• Aug. 22 –Little Caesar's Pizza; 7153 Ogontz Ave., Philadelphia
• Aug. 22 –Rite Aid; 7401 Ogontz Ave., Philadelphia
• Aug. 24 –Rite Aid; 6744 North 5th St., Philadelphia
• Aug. 24 –Walgreens; 2727 West Cheltenham Ave., Wyncote
• Sept. 6 –Family Dollar; 1812 West Cheltenham Ave., Philadelphia
• Sept. 7 –Rite Aid; 1401 West Cheltenham Ave., Elkins Park
• Sept. 10 –Rite Aid; 5400 Rising Sun Ave., Philadelphia
• Sept. 11 –Papa Joe's; 7204 Ogontz Ave., Philadelphia
• Sept. 13 –Metro PCS; 7147 Ogontz Ave., Philadelphia
• Sept. 14 –Rite Aid; 1401 West Cheltenham Ave., Elkins Park
• Sept. 17 –Metro PCS; 6201 North Front St., Philadelphia
• Sept. 18 –Metro PCS; 7147 Ogontz Ave., Philadelphia
• Sept. 20 –Metro PCS; 1555 Wadsworth Ave., Philadelphia
• Sept. 22 –Metro PCS; 6342 Rising Sun Ave., Philadelphia
• Sept. 23 –Cricket Wireless; 7145 Ogontz Ave., Philadelphia
• Sept. 23 –Metro PCS; 5007 North Broad St., Philadelphia
• Sept. 23 –Family Dollar; 1812 West Cheltenham Ave., Philadelphia
• Sept. 24 –Boost Mobile; 3152 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia

Fox 29 reports as of Wednesday morning one of the suspects has been arrested.

According to Fox, Yasim Lowman, 23, of Philadelphia, was arrested in connection with a robbery in Springfield, Montgomery County that occurred Tuesday.

Lowman faces charged such as felony robbery, felony theft, simple assault, and related charged, according to court records.

"These robberies are committed by at least two individuals," Philadelphia Police Capt. Malachi Jones said at a press conference Tuesday. "These individuals are brazen in their demeanor, they come in wielding a gun, sometimes two guns, in these robberies. They are demanding money and they are making off with cash."
