Ackerman Denied Unemployment Benefits

Reports say the former superintendent will not appeal the decision.

Heads turned when former superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia, Arlene Ackerman, . The news came on the tails of a $905,000 buyout from her contract.

Now, according to a report on Philly.com, Ackerman has been denied those unemployment benefits by the state, which would have been more than $500 a week. Ackerman called Philadelphia a "closed chapter in my life," in an e-mail in The Inquirer.

While the chapter is closed for Ackerman, the school district is left with $60 million in budget cuts that need to be made, and .
