Cafette Has a New Chef & New Menu

…Cafette officially introduces Chef Bela Durst and his new autumn menu!

CHESTNUT HILL, PA - (OCTOBER 23, 2012) - Last month Cafette (8136 Ardleigh Street;215-242-4220) celebrated its 20th anniversary and quietly welcomed Chef Bela Durst. This month, Cafette officially introduces Chef Durst and his new autumn menu! Durst brings his culinary style to this Chestnut Hill landmark with dishes like Seared Poblano Pepper stuffed with creamy jack cheese grits, smoky tomato sauce, spiced pumpkin seeds and sour cream ($11); Striped Bass with lobster-sweet potato sauce, mushroom duxelle, and sautéed spinach ($21); And a special Steak and Pasta of the day (priced daily). Regulars will be glad to find that favorites like Maryland Crab Cakes($21) and Friday's Fried Chicken ($17) will remain on the menu. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling 215-242-4220.

”We were thrilled when Bela agreed to come on board and join our family at Cafette. He has put his stamp on our menu with his great flavors, experience and passion," explains owner Jan Wilson. "We look forward to delighting our guests with his wonderful new dishes!”

 

Chef Bela Durst began his culinary adventures in San Francisco nearly 30 years ago where he apprenticed for Chef Jeremiah Tower at the acclaimed Stars Restaurant. Tower has been credited with developing the culinary style known as "California Cuisine." Since then, Chef Durst has been honing his skills at restaurants in San Francisco, Napa and Philadelphia. He's lead the kitchens of Black Sheep, Prohibition Taproom and Steve Poses' Franklin Foodworks. His culinary philosophy is to pair fresh, local, seasonal ingredients that prove to be fun and inspired, yet simple!
