Armed Robbers Steal $42 From Mt Airy Sprint Store

MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA — Police in Philadelphia are looking for two men who robbed a Mt. Airy wireless store at gunpoint for just $42.

According to police, the armed robbery occurred at about 8:40 a.m. on Monday, May 6 at the Sprint Store at 7223 Crittenden Street.

At that time, an employee was opening the store for the day when a man with a handgun forced his wan into the store, police said.

The man aimed the guns at the employee, forcing them to their knees, then took them to the office area, police said.

Police said the suspect took $42 from the store's safe while another suspect acted as a lookout outside the store.

The two then fled in an unknown direction. Police said it's unclear if they fled on foot, in a vehicle, or by another mode of transportation.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt police said.

The armed suspect was described as a black man with a light complexion, medium build, and standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10inches tall. He was wearing a dark mask on the lower part of his face, a dark jacket with a white Nike logo on it, dark pants with white vertical stripes on both legs, and white New Balance sneakers.

Police described the lookout as a black man in his late teens to early 20s with a medium-dark complexion and a medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and police said the first suspect referred to him as "D" or "DEEK."
