Incoming 8th District Councilwoman Cindy Bass will support Councilman Darrell Clarke in his bid for the council president spot.
Bass spokesman Joseph Corrigan said Monday that Bass would sign a pledge to support him. Current president Anna Verna didn't run for re-election this year.
Clarke has the votes to become council president, according to an article on Philly.com. Ten current and incoming council members have signed a petition in support of Clarke, according to the article.

Bass previously said she would keep her options open and didn't rule out supporting a candidate enrolled in the controversial DROP program. Councilwoman Marian Tasco had been floated as someone that could take on the position, that Bass might support her.
But Clarke isn't enrolled in the program. So Bass, in the end, won't support a DROP-enlisted candidate for the job.
