Chestnut Hill College Gets $500K Grant

State Senator LeAnna Washington helped secure the funding.

State Sen. LeAnna M. Washington has secured $500,000 for  to improve access for those with disabilities, and Women Against Abuse received $500,000 to rehabilitate the Sojourner House, which provides longer-term housing and supportive services for low-income women and children who are fleeing from serious domestic violence situations, according to a news release.

The state money comes from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), which funds local economic, cultural, civic, and historical improvement projects that are intended to create jobs and economic growth. The program is managed by the state’s budget office and funds are intended to provide economic stimulus to the Pennsylvania economy, according to the news release.

The release said Washington also secured funds for other organizations and institutions, including $250,000 in state funding to benefit the .

The $250,000 will help the seminary complete the development of its Brossman Learning Center. The center  and is also home of the Lutheran Archives Center at Philadelphia. It also provides storage for the Krauth Memorial Library's Collection.

"These vital educational and civic projects will create much needed jobs for the local economy," Washington said.
