Chestnut Hill's State Senator to Host Domestic Violence Walk
State Sen. LeAnna Washington is a domestic violence victim.

State Sen. LeAnna Washington is organizing a domestic violence walk that will take place on West River Drive Oct. 22.
The Walk to End Domestic Violence is in its fourth year. Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the drive near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and a ceremony begins at 10 a.m. The walk starts at 10:30 a.m.

Washington, whose represents Chestnut Hill, is a victim of domestic violence herself.
The event will raise funds for Philadelphia’s only Domestic Violence Hotline, (866-SAFE-014), which is operated by professionals from Philadelphia’s four Domestic Violence programs: Women Against Abuse, Women in Transition, Lutheran Settlement House and Congreso.

“We are driven to continue raising funds for the Hotline so we can be there to support and stand up for the victims who so badly need a helping hand in their time of need," Washington said in a news release.
