Drive-By Shooting Kills One In Mt. Airy Monday Night

Reports say there were more than 20 bullets fired into his car, and nine into his body, in a Monday drive-by shooting on East Gorgas Lane.

MT AIRY, PHILADELPHIA – A 33-year-old man died Monday night after being found shot numerous times in an apparent drive-by shooting in Philadelphia's Mt. Airy neighborhood, police said.

Police said the man was found in his vehicle parked on the 100 block of East Gorgas Lane at about 6:34 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11.

He was in an orange Dodge Charger that had numerous bullet holes in the driver side door and window, police said. Action News reports 28 bullets were fired into the vehicle in what is being called a drive-by shooting.

Police got the victim out of the vehicle and he was taken to Einstein Hospital were he was pronounced dead at 7:12 p.m.

The man reportedly had nine gunshot wounds, according to CBS Philadelphia.

Police did not identify the victim and have no suspect or vehicle description.

The PPD's Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting.
